NLSW Reflection Day 4: It Doesn’t Get Better Than This!1 min read

When considering the topic assigned for this blog, I was first and immediately drawn to the word “serving,” as it relates to the work done by a full-time teacher. Any teacher will attest that there is plenty of it.

Lutheran school teachers are honored with the task of guiding children. We guide them as they grow in their knowledge of God’s message to the world. We guide them as they advance in academia. We guide in the growth of their faith as they learn to make life decisions based upon what God has planned for them. What children learn in Lutheran schools affects their entire lives. Meaning and God-pleasing purpose is woven into their life skills in our schools. Aiding this outcome is the work of a Lutheran school teacher.

Having served in Lutheran Schools for many years and now only part-time, I look back. Work is not what I see. I see that Christ has served me. As in everything God gives to His people, we are blessed beyond anything we can imagine. To the Lutheran school teacher He gives a life of the highest purpose, an identity of being a tool He uses, and the satisfaction of being in a place where, on a daily basis, we can do what He commanded in Matthew when He said “… make disciples, teaching them.” It cannot get any better than that.
